ACPI 2.0 Support This enables or disables your motherboard??™s support for ACPI (Advanced Configuration
and Power Interface), a power management feature. In most cases, this should
be set to Enabled, but if you change this setting after Windows has been installed,
you??™ll get a Blue Screen of Death the next time you boot. If you enable ACPI, you??™ll
need to reinstall Windows (see Chapter 1).
ACPI APIC Support This enables or disables the APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller),
which should be enabled, particularly if you have a multicore processor. Like ???ACPI 2.0
Support,??? you may need to reinstall Windows after changing this setting.
ACPI Aware O/S Set this to Yes; see ???Power Management??? for details.
AddOn ROM Display
Mode
Choose whether the startup screen is handled by the primary BIOS or a secondary
???add-on??? BIOS. Disable this option unless you have a specific need for it.
Address Range
Shadowing
Various hardware address ranges can be ???shadowed,??? which means that pieces of
faster system RAM are substituted for them. It??™s best to disable shadowing for all
address ranges; this feature is typically not available on newer PCs.
AGP 2X/4X Mode The AGP 2X and 4X modes double and quadruple the bandwidth to your AGP video
card, respectively, but can only be used if your video card supports 2X or 4X.
