Go to Tools ??? Trust Center, choose the Automatic Download category
on the left, and then in the right pane, turn on the Don??™t download
pictures automatically in HTML e-mail messages or RSS items
option.
Eudora
Go to Tools ??? Options, choose the Display category on the left, and
then turn off the Automatically download HTML graphics option.
Mozilla Thunderbird
Go to Tools ??? Options, choose the Advanced Privacy category, and
select the Block loading of remote images in mail messages option.
Gmail
By default, inline images aren??™t displayed in Gmail messages. Instead,
you??™ll see a green stripe at the top of the message; just click the Display
images below link if you need to see them, or the Always display
images link if you trust the sender. Now, if you click the Always display
images link by accident, you can rescind your permission by clicking
Show details and then Don??™t display from now on.
Windows Live Mail (a.k.a. MSN Hotmail)
At the top of any Live Mail page, click Options. Choose the Mail category
on the left, click Mail Display Settings, and then under Display
Internet content, select Automatically suppress Internet content in
messages.
Next, install an independent, passive spam filter??”one that marks potential
spam instead of deleting it??”like SpamPal (free, http://spampal.org/). Then
configure your email program??™s filter to send all email containing the text
**Spam** in the subject line to the Junk or Trash mailbox.
