"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

Again, you??™ll quickly see if they understand
or not.
nNote I believe that we techies have a responsibility to ensure that the nontechnical people in a business
understand the implications of anything that we do. Who else is going to ensure that kind of understanding?
Taking it for granted that a nontechnical person will understand the implications of technical activities is not
only unwise, but I believe it is also unethical.
CHAPTER 12 n REALISTIC DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING 316
Roadblock: Silos
If your technology people are organized into well-defined and isolated groups, you??™ll
have a problem getting those people to work against that group structure when planning
for disaster recovery. You need someone capable of bridging the gap between the
various silos.
Description of the Roadblock
There is a school of thought in management that says the most efficient way to organize
IT resources is to group them into their specific areas of expertise. All of the DBAs are in
the same group, regardless of what systems they support. The same goes for developers,
server administrators, and network administrators.
