"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

???
??? ???Duh, we already have a disaster recovery plan??”that??™s why we carry pagers.???
??? ???Management will never let us do this; just give up on it.???
??? ???Where do you guys want to go for lunch????
CHAPTER 12 n REALISTIC DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING 306
The general issues you??™ll see involve either a lack of understanding of what disaster
recovery planning is, a preconceived notion of what disaster recovery is, or just plain
apathy or despair.
Your Peers
By peers, I mean your colleagues in IT/IS??”individuals who should understand the technical
risks involved as well as the need for some type of disaster recovery planning. I do
recommend that you stick with database-level disaster recovery planning to start with,
but eventually you??™ll need to work with the server management team, the network team,
and so on. They will have comments similar to your team:
??? ???My boss will never let me have time to work on that.???
??? ???We already have what we need in place. Worry about your own stuff.???
??? ???That??™s not my problem.???
Not only will you face the usual ignorance or apathy, but you may face a layer of hostility
as well.
