"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

It??™s more difficult
when every level has its own distinct concept of what disaster recovery planning means.
As I mentioned in Chapter 1, I??™mpresenting my understanding of disaster recovery planning,
but it isn??™t the only available approach. You may disagree with me, but at this point,
(I hope) you will have identified what approach will work for your company. If everyone
in your company has a different viewpoint, you first have to gain consensus before you
can undertake some of the larger, cross-department planning.
This particular roadblock can appear within your team (fellow DBAs), individual
peers, management, and so on. I??™ll examine each group in detail, first starting with how
the roadblock can occur.
Your Team
Sometimes convincing your fellow DBAs that disaster recovery planning is needed can
be extremely difficult. The problem is that they are in the same position as you??”that is,
doing all they can just to keep their heads above water. The usual protests from other
DBAs include:
??? ???We??™ve already got a backup plan. What are you talking about????
??? ???I??™ve got enough to do as it is.
