"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

It really should be the other way
around. Technology does not solve business problems??“ (another rant for another day).
Currently, most business units see the support of their applications as being totally within the
hands of the mystical IT/IS staff. This means that most business units believe IT/IS is solely responsible
for supporting these applications. This viewpoint must change. As much as IT and IS need to pay more
attention to the business processes they support, business units must be aware of the technology
requirements behind their processes. They also must take responsibility for certain decisions, such as
acceptable data loss, acceptable downtime, and so on. Right now, most organizations have an ???us vs.
them??? mentality regarding business and technology. Both sides need to take responsibility and have at
least a basic understanding of what the other does.
Roadblock: Lack of Awareness
All too often, companies either are oblivious to disaster risks or downplay the likelihood
or the impact of their occurrence. Whether it??™s a case of pure ignorance or wishful thinking,
lack of awareness is a very real problem you??™re likely to encounter when it comes to
disaster recovery.
