"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

As I??™ve said, I??™m
not expecting everyone to agree with me. What I want is for everyone to consider these topics within the
context of their own job.
What Problems Does This Create?
When pacifists participate in a conflict, they back down. Let??™s say a pacifist happens to
be the resident expert on SQL Server and is recommending the best method for backup/
recovery, only to be countered by the resident Oracle expert. Chances are that the SQL
Server expert knows his platform better than the Oracle expert would. When the pacifist
backs down, the result may be a backup/recovery plan that??™s not only far from optimal,
but completely invalid.
Pacifists who are in a team leader role attempt to put a halt to arguments, whether
rational or emotional. My academic background is in philosophy, which essentially
reveres the art of arguing. (A question is considered philosophical if no book holds the
answer.) Arguments, even emotional ones, often uncover valuable information, usually
once the point of contention is uncovered.
How Do You Deal with These Problems?
Pacifists are the most difficult personality type to overcome, primarily because they can
be difficult to detect.
