Like holists,
they can be particularly distracting when it comes to disaster recovery planning.
CHAPTER 12 n REALISTIC DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING 302
It usually doesn??™t matter if the confrontation is amicable or hostile. Either way, pacifists
always attempt to stop the confrontation outright, or at the very least act as a mediator.
Pacifists who find themselves involved in a confrontation quickly back down from
their point, potentially discarding extremely useful information.
What Is Valued?
Pacifists don??™t necessarily fear confrontation, but even if they do, that isn??™t the motivation.
They believe that the most productive environment is a harmonious one. They think that
nothing positive comes from confrontation, which ultimately does nothing more than
waste everyone??™s time.
nNote I, of course, disagree with the concept that only harmony leads to positive results, while discord
does nothing but distract and destroy. Not all of you will agree with me on this; you might have the personality
type of an arguer. It??™s true that some people argue for the sake of arguing, but I believe that behavior is
driven by something else (such as the fear of losing a job, as the information hoarder fears).
