Completeness of information is the sole objective of holists. They??™re motivated by
knowing that the correct decision or action has been taken. Without that complete picture
and all relevant input, any decision or action is automatically suspect.
What Problems Does This Create?
Holists prolong any activity far past what is necessary. For holists, there is no such thing
as a ???good enough for now??? approach if individuals with input have not been consulted.
Holists are different than perfectionists, because if all applicable parties have been
included, they??™ll accept the ???good enough??? answer.
The participation of holists can potentially negatively affect the other participants.
Holists all but demand the input of others, often against their will. Would you want to be
dragged into a meeting, only to sit for two hours while everyone answers a single question?
I sure wouldn??™t.
How Do You Deal with These Problems?
The key to working with holists is compromise. As with the other personality types, don??™t
simply dismiss their requests for a wider range of input, because their requests are probably
valid.
