"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

Because they believe their very livelihood
is at risk, some information hoarders will go to great lengths to hamper anyone else??™s
attempt at gathering pertinent information or stepping into their area of expertise. I??™ve
even seen an information hoarder goes so far as to frame another employee in an attempt
to get that employee fired. This was an extreme, unfortunate case in the mid 1990s, and
I haven??™t seen something that severe since.
Information hoarders who hold data critical to the success of your disaster recovery
planning may fight access implicitly, or they may respond aggressively. They even may
make a preemptive strike. Under no conditions will they give up their information willingly.
How Do You Deal with These Problems?
There is both good news and bad news when dealing with information hoarders. The bad
news is that the steps you take to put information hoarders at ease may not matter at all.
The good news is that there are some simple techniques you can use (if the information
hoarder is capable of listening) to break down the walls created to keep you and your
information-greedy mitts off.
