"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

No one thought of that. We need
to add that to our list.??? This can go a long way toward keeping perfectionists involved.
CHAPTER 12 n REALISTIC DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING 295
However, if you??™re continually adding to the list, obviously nothing will get done. The
second key to working with perfectionists is to present the current iteration as a single
item to accomplish. If they point out a deficiency with the current activity that actually
relates to the next step, you must try to get them to understand that their objection is to
a separate activity. You must never dismiss what they say, because chances are, they are
right. Perfectionists don??™t introduce complications just to be difficult; they really see the
complication.
Both acknowledging their contribution and helping them maintain focus on an
achievable goal can help put perfectionists at ease.
The Doomsayer
Ah, the warmembrace of despair. I know it well. Doomsayers are actually quite similar
to perfectionists in terms of their resultant behavior. For doomsayers, however, not only
is perfection unattainable, but no activity will succeed.
