"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

There is no way around this. In SQL Server 2005, you can add
the WITH COPY_ONLY clause to a full backup command; this instructs the database
engine not to consider this a full backup in terms of differential backup association.
If the company had been running SQL Server 2005, the developer could have
used this clause, which would have saved significant time in the restore process,
since the differential backup could have been applied.
The Overheated Data Center
(Environmental/Hardware Disaster)
Overheating is a common scenario in small- to mid-sized companies that have rapidly
evolving IT needs. They never have the time to spec out a proper data center with appropriate
HVAC capacities. Usually, there??™s very little leverage of existing hardware resources,
leading quickly to rapid server proliferation.
For my fellow gaming geeks in the audience, you know that the price you pay for
extreme performance is extreme heat. Gaming PCs have high-performance fans, heat
sinks on the CPU(s), heat sinks and fans on the graphics cards, and, for the true gamers
out there, some sort of custom water-cooled system.
