Don??™t forget to include the main DBA, a manager, a business manager,
hardware vendor support, and other key figures.
??? Licensing and installing media: This is perhaps one of the most commonly missed
components in a full disaster recovery plan. Often the existence of media to reinstall
SQL Server, as well as the license key required, is taken for granted. Also, don??™t
forget to keep the current service pack installation and any hotfix installation files
currently in use (I??™d burn those to a CD as well).
??? External support: If you maintain any support from a third-party vendor, make
sure you have the support agreement available. Incidentally, you should include
the hardware or software support agreement as part of the documentation of the
disaster recovery plan. You never know when you??™ll need to remind a vendor that
it has a responsibility to actually help you.
Testing
In case you didn??™t already notice, test is a four-letter word, and other four-letter words
often accompany it. It??™s a rare individual who cannot only tolerate testing but actually
enjoy it. Most people in the IT industry despise testing.
