If you leave each of
these blank, the first assumption SQL Server will make is that they all use the same service
account.
CHAPTER 8 n DATABASE MIRRORING 219
Figure 8-21. All instances in this simple walkthrough use the same service account, so you
can leave them blank.
If each instance uses a separate service account, you would enter them here. It??™s possible
that each instance runs on an untrusted domain, but let??™s not consider that possibility
here. Database mirroring can be complex enough, and for the purposes of this book, I
don??™t want to complicate mirroring further with untrusted domain communication.
Figure 8-22 shows the final screen of the Configure Security wizard (we??™re still just
configuring security). The result of the Configure Security wizard is the successful completion
of three actions: creating a mirroring endpoint on the principal instance, the
mirror instance, and the witness instance.
CHAPTER 8 n DATABASE MIRRORING 220
Figure 8-22. If you have a green light on all three nodes, you??™re ready to continue configuring
mirroring.
After completing the Configure Security wizard and successfully creating mirroring
endpoints, you??™re prompted to start the mirroring session, as shown in Figure 8-23.
