those tapes as a consistent set. If you??™re employing a third-party data-archival service to
manage tapes, you??™ll need some assurance that they??™ll maintain that integrity. Verifying
third-party compliance takes someone??™s time, which, as you??™ve already seen, may not be
available in the first place.
Cost
As with business-driven cost, technical cost doesn??™t necessarily equate to a price tag (or
at least you should avoid trying to apply a price tag if there is anything unclear about the
factors feeding into the cost). Rather, technical cost is a combination of direct costs, time
commitments from staff, and indirect complications that arise from ongoing activities.
Training
Whether through formal classroom training, online training, or self-study, multiple staff
members need to understand not only the backup/recovery plan but also the technology
