"Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery"

As tedious as this sounds, you only need to back up the resource database any time
you install a service pack, hotfix, or hotfix rollup on the server. If worse comes to worse,
you could always find a server running at the same service pack/hotfix level and use that
resource database as a backup from which to restore.
ReportServer
The ReportServer database doesn??™t simply hold configuration information. It holds report
definitions, schedules, report snapshots, and more. Nearly every aspect of Reporting Services
is stored within this database. If you use Reporting Services at all, you should treat
this database as a production database within your organization. If you use report
caching, subscriptions, or snapshots, you should prepare for point-in-time recovery.
nTip If you??™ve stored connection-string information in the ReportServer database, you must use the
RSKEYMGMT.EXE utility to first extract the encryption key used. Without a copy of that key, any reports that
rely on encrypted connection strings will fail. This isn??™t a huge deal if you have 30-50 reports, but I??™ve
worked with systems approaching 500 reports.
