The BIRT projects outside of the Report Project type are
beyond the scope of this book, because they are for J2EE development.
Creating New Report Projects
Chapter 7
[ 137 ]
In the screenshot just shown, we can see the New Project wizard, with the different
types of BIRT projects available.
As we have seen previously, Report Project creation is very simple. The general steps
for creating a Report Project were illustrated in Chapter 3; so I will only touch on
a few points, as there are a few different ways to create projects in Eclipse. Project
creation is available from the File menu, and from the Navigator.
Report Projects and Libraries
[ 138 ]
In the screenshot just shown, we can see the File menus, New options, with
Project... highlighted.
In the latest screenshot, we can see the New menu in the Navigator, accessed
using the right-click context menu. Creating Report Projects from the Navigator is
essentially the same as with the File menu, with the only difference being that when
you create a project in the File menu, you will go to File | New | Project instead
of right-clicking in the Navigator pane. If you are not in the BIRT perspective, you
will have different options available under the New menu, as seen in the following
screenshot when the Java perspective is open:
Chapter 7
[ 139 ]
As you can see, in the Java perspective, the new Report, Template, and Library
options for BIRT are also available.
