QUICKFACTS
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PAPER
When you decide to print your digital images, the choice
of paper becomes an issue. The plain paper that you
use to print out letters and spreadsheets just won??™t cut
it when you print a digital image. The only time you
should consider using plain paper to print an image is for
testing purposes or to clean your printer nozzles. Most
printer manufacturers have photo-quality paper available
for their photo-quality inkjet printers. These papers are
designed to work with the manufacturer??™s printers. You
can also find photo-quality paper made by third-party
manufacturers, although third-party papers may not give
you the desired results.
Many printer manufacturers sell ???professional quality???
photographic paper. If your printer supports this type of
paper, you can expect more saturated colors and the
look and feel of traditional photographic paper used by
camera stores. Another issue with paper is fading. Many
printer manufacturers test their papers for light fastness.
You can find high-quality, acid-free papers that will resist
fading for up to 80 years.
