If you start to notice artifacts
(bright halos and/or colored specks) around the edges
in the image, you??™ve over-sharpened. Drag the slider to
the left until the artifacts disappear.
4. Drag the Radius slider to determine the distance in pixels from the edge where
sharpening is applied. In most instances, the default value of 1 is perfect. If you
increase the radius, pay attention to your image. If you increase the radius too much,
you??™ll create artifacts in it, especially if there??™s any noise in the image.
5. Choose an option from the Remove drop-down menu. For photos of people, the
Gaussian Blur option works well. If you??™re sharpening a photo of a landscape, choose
the Lens Blur option.
6. Click OK to sharpen the image.
COLOR-CORRECT IMAGES
When you take a picture with your digital camera, the camera image sensor
distributes the red, green, and blue pixels according to their brightness. An
8-bit image has 256 levels of red, green and blue. Dark pixels are at the low

If you apply high levels of sharpening to an image and
then save it as a JPEG file with low quality, artifacts may
appear.

If you??™re not happy with the results of any edit, choose
Edit | Undo before
executing another command.
