Use a Card Reader
When you use a card reader to transfer images, the camera is not part of the
operation. You remove the memory card from the camera and insert it directly
into the card reader. The benefit of card readers is that you don??™t drain the
camera battery. You can find a card reader that matches your type of memory
card at most camera retailers for under $30.
1. Create a folder in your computer in which you??™ll store the images.
2. Remove the memory card from your camera.
3. Insert the memory card into your card reader. In Windows XP, a dialog box appears
with suggested actions, as shown here. Choose the option to create a folder to view
the image files on your memory card.
