with red-eye. A better lighting solution for portrait photography is available
light. You??™ll have to use a tripod because of the slow shutter speed, but you??™ll
get a better picture as a result.

You can create lovely portraits by using the available light from a window. The
light is generally diffuse, unless it??™s early in the morning and the window faces
the east. If there are curtains over the window, the light is filtered even further,
resulting in a wonderfully soft, diffuse light that is perfect for taking portraits.
1. Mount your camera on a tripod.
2. Position your subject so that the light pouring through the window illuminates one side
of his or her face.
3. Disable the camera flash.
4. Set the camera on auto-timer mode.
5. Move and adjust the tripod as needed to compose the scene.
