1. Analyze the scene from different vantage points.
2. Look for any dominant diagonal elements, such as
the gable end of a roof or a person??™s leg.
3. Tilt the camera so that the strong diagonal
is parallel to one of the edges of the camera
frame.
4. Alternatively, you can look for horizontal
elements, such as the roadway in the image
to the right. Tilt your camera so that the
horizontal is diagonal from the top edge of
the frame on one side to the bottom edge
of the frame on the other side.
5. Press the shutter button fully to capture the
image.

Frame Your Subject
If you??™re photographing a person or an object, you can use architectural
elements to create a frame around the person. When you create a frame
around a subject, you leave no doubt
in the viewer??™s mind what you are
photographing.
1. Find a doorway, gate, or other
architectural aspect with which to frame
your subject. You can frame the subject??™s
entire body with an architectural element,
such as a doorframe or gate, or you can
use foliage, such as palm fronds, to frame
your subject.
