Compose a Picture Using Repeating Elements
If you use your digital camera frequently, you??™re always on the lookout for new
and interesting things to photograph. You can create interesting pictures of
repeating elements, such as sailboat masts or windmills.
1. Analyze the scene from all angles.
2. Compose the scene so that the repeating elements are aligned so that they draw your
viewer into the picture.
Figure 6-1: Use geometric elements to compose your
photos.
TIP
If you??™re taking a head-and-shoulders portrait of someone
wearing glasses with round lenses, have them hold
a circular object, such as an antique pocket watch or
magnifying glass. Tell your subject where to position his
or her hand and the object to create a center of interest
according to the Rule of Thirds. The viewer??™s eye will be
drawn from the circular object to the subject??™s glasses.
