Photograph Oceans,
Lakes, and Waterfalls
Man has always been lured to the water. The sound of waves crashing against
the shore or a babbling brook are hypnotic and soothing. You can capture the
tranquility and beauty of oceans, lakes, and waterfalls with your digital camera.
Photograph Seascapes
1. When you photograph a seascape, shoot with a wide-angle lens to capture
the vastness of the ocean, and include other features to tie the viewer to a
geographical location. Another option is to create a dramatic picture by zooming
in and capturing a wave crashing into the shore. Zoom out to capture the expanse
of a seascape. Include geographical features, such as in the image to the left,
which shows the towering cliffs at Drakes Beach in California.
2. Zoom in on a wave, and shoot with a high shutter speed to create a wavescape,
as shown in the following photograph.
TIP
Instead of shooting directly into the sun at sunrise or
sunset, turn the other way. The scene will be vibrant with
golden hues from the low sun.
