2. Press the shutter button halfway. With most cameras, the on-camera flash will pop up
in low lighting conditions. You may have to manually engage the flash on your camera.

3. Compose and shoot the picture.
Use Fill Flash
1. Switch to one of the creative shooting modes (see Chapter 2).
2. Press your camera flash button to pop up the flash. Most camera flash buttons look
like a lightning bolt.
3. Push the shutter button halfway to establish focus. The camera flash will fire a test
shot to determine how much light from the flash is needed to properly expose the
scene.
4. Press the shutter button fully to take the picture. Figure 3-12 shows an image
photographed with fill flash.

Use Advanced Flash Options
If you own a high-end digital camera or a digital SLR camera, you may have a
flash hot shoe: an electrical contact that enables you to connect an external flash
to the camera. External flash units are generally more powerful than on-camera
flash units.
