"Digital Photography QuickSteps, 2nd Edition"

When you view a white object under a fluorescent light, it appears
white. However, the same object has a greenish cast when recorded by a camera
image sensor. Your camera probably has AWB (automatic white balance), which
compensates for color temperature under most conditions. However, if you notice
that your images have a color cast, as shown in Figure 2-11 (left), you??™ll have to
manually set the white balance using your camera menu settings. Figure 2-11 (right)
shows the same subject with the white balance adjusted properly.
TIP
Many cameras with a high level of optical zoom have
some sort of image stabilization feature. Use image
stabilization when you are zooming in tightly on a subject
to prevent blur from camera operator movement. You
should also use a higher shutter speed when zooming to
maximum magnification.
NOTE
Some cameras have a menu option to enable digital
zoom. Refer to your camera manual for additional
information.
