Images captured with
digital zoom are coarser than images captured with optical zoom. When you
use digital zoom, the camera crops to an area of the maximum optical zoom and
then enlarges it to the specified image size.
Use Optical Zoom
1. Point the camera toward the subject.
2. Press the zoom button to zoom in on the subject.
3. Compose and shoot the picture.
Use Digital Zoom
1. Point your camera toward the subject.
2. Press the zoom button until the maximum optical zoom has been achieved.

DEALING WITH DIGITAL NOISE
If you capture pictures using ISO settings higher than ISO
400, you may notice digital noise in the form of colored
specks in the picture. This is most noticeable when images
are viewed at 100 percent magnification. Cameras with
high ISO ratings usually have a noise reduction feature
you can access via a menu command. Refer to your
camera manual to see if your camera has this feature.
REDUCE DIGITAL NOISE
1. Select the desired ISO setting from your camera
menu.
2. Select the noise filter option from your camera
menu.
3. Compose and shoot the picture.
TIP
After you finish shooting pictures in low light with a high
ISO setting, remember to choose a lower setting when
you shoot pictures in well-lit locations.
