The ISO setting determines how sensitive the camera is to light. Choose a low
ISO setting when shooting in bright light and a high ISO setting when shooting
in dim light. ISO settings for digital cameras range from ISO 50 to ISO 3200,
with a few offering ISO 6400. As mentioned previously, images captured with
high ISO settings will have more digital noise. Some images photographed at
ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 may be unusable due to the high degree of digital noise.
Consult your camera manual for the available ISO range.
Increase Camera Sensitivity
1. Press your camera??™s menu button. Alternatively, certain cameras have a button
devoted to accessing camera functions or adjusting the ISO setting.
2. Select the desired ISO setting.
3. Compose and shoot the picture.
Zoom In on Your Subject
Every digital camera features a zoom lens of some sort. Point-and-shoot digital
cameras generally feature an optical zoom with a maximum magnification of 3X
or 5X, while high-end digital cameras may have a zoom with a magnification
as high as 12X. Your camera may also have digital zoom.
