"Digital Photography QuickSteps, 2nd Edition"

If your camera is so equipped, you can change image
sharpness, contrast, and saturation. Your camera may also feature a camera
setting to take pictures in black and white or settings that enable you to create
special-effects images, such as sepia-toned photos. Consult your owner??™s
manual to see which menu command is used to set each of these. Figure 2-6 (top)
shows an image shot with the sharpness, contrast, and saturation set to their
minimum values; Figure 2-6 (middle) shows an image shot with default settings
for sharpness, contrast, and saturation; and Figure 2-6 (bottom) shows an image
shot with maximum settings for sharpness, contrast, and saturation.
Shoot Images Using Creative
Shooting Modes
High-end digital cameras and digital SLR cameras give you the option of
shooting images using ???creative??? shooting modes. When you shoot using
one of the creative shooting modes (aperture priority, shutter priority, and,
with some cameras, program mode), you use the camera controls to create the
desired image. When you shoot in aperture priority mode, you set the f-stop,
which determines how much of the image is in focus (depth of field). When
you shoot in shutter priority mode, you choose the desired shutter speed to
freeze action or creatively blur the image.
