The scene is
metered from multiple metering zones,
which are linked and averaged to determine
the exposure for the scene.
Center-weighted
average
Use this mode when the background is
significantly brighter than the subject. The
scene is metered from a small area around
the center of the scene.
Partial or spot Use this mode when your subject is in
the center of the scene. The metering is
weighted toward the center of the scene and
averaged for the entire scene.

multipattern metering). If you??™re photographing a person or subject in front of a bright
light source, such as the sun, you should use the center-weighted average metering
mode. If your subject is the most important part of the scene, use partial metering
(some camera manufacturers refer to this mode as spot metering), and make sure you
aim the metering mode icon in the center of your camera viewfinder at your subject.
2. Press the button or make the menu choice for the desired metering mode. Refer to
your camera manual for detailed information on changing metering modes.
