Match the Metering Mode
to Conditions
If you own a high-end digital camera or a digital SLR, you can choose the
metering mode that best suits the conditions under which you are shooting the
picture. The subject matter also plays a part in the metering mode you choose.
Camera manufacturers refer to metering modes by different names. The most
common designations and their descriptions are listed in Table 2-1.
Choose the Proper Metering Mode
1. Analyze the scene through the viewfinder. If the scene has even lighting, you should
use evaluative metering (some camera manufacturers refer to this mode as matrix or

The file size of an image is determined by the image
size and quality you specify. If you own a high-megapixel
camera and shoot at the largest image size and best
quality, your image file sizes will be quite large.
