shooting in shutter priority mode (listed on most camera dials as Tv, an abbreviation
for ???time value,??? or S for ???shutter???) or the aperture when shooting in aperture priority
mode (listed on most camera dials as Av, an abbreviation for ???aperture value,??? or A for
???aperture???). If you??™re shooting in manual mode, which is listed as M on most cameras,
you adjust both the shutter speed and aperture to achieve the desired exposure.
4. Compose your scene through the viewfinder or LCD viewer. Most high-end
cameras feature an electronic through-the-lens viewfinder, which allows you to
accurately compose the scene based on what the image sensor is recording. Some
photographers prefer to compose their pictures using the LCD monitor.
5. Press the shutter button halfway to achieve focus. The camera gives you a visual
indication in the viewfinder or LCD monitor when focus has been achieved. You may
also hear a beep, depending on the model of the camera.
6. Press the shutter button fully to take the picture. Modern high-end cameras respond
quickly. You??™ll see the processed image in the LCD viewer almost immediately.
