However, even the simplest point-and-shoot camera is equipped
with a dial that enables you to choose different shooting modes (as shown in
Figure 2-1) to compensate for backlit subjects, fast-moving subjects, and so on.
1. Turn the camera mode dial to select the desired shooting mode.
2. Compose your picture through the viewfinder or LCD viewer. If desired, use
your camera??™s zoom control to zoom in on your subject and achieve the perfect
composition.
3. Press the shutter button halfway to focus on your center of interest. Most cameras
will flash a green dot while focusing. When the dot stops flashing, focus has been
achieved. You may also hear a beep.
4. Press the shutter to take the picture. After you take the picture, you may see an
hourglass or some other symbol that signifies that the camera is processing the
picture. A short while later, the processed picture appears in the LCD viewer.
Shoot Pictures with a High-End Digital Camera
If you own a high-end digital camera, you can exercise creative control over
your pictures. In addition to shooting modes that compensate for lighting
conditions and fast-moving objects, you have an aperture-priority shooting
mode, shutter-priority shooting mode, and manual shooting mode.
