9.6 Summary
RSS 2.0 feed provides frequently updated digital content as web feed.
Atom 1.0 is an incremental improvement over RSS 2.0. The Google Ajax
Feed API may be used to read a web feed. The feed generated with the
Google Ajax Feed API has a set of elements that is different from either
the RSS 2.0 feed elements or the Atom 1.0 feed elements. The Google
Ajax Feed Api may be used to retrieve either the RSS feed or the Atom
feed. The Google Ajax Feed API may also be used to read multiple feeds.
10 Web Search with Ajax
10.1 Introduction
Ajax is the web technique to refresh content on a web page without
reposting the web page. We have used Ajax to submit an input form to
retrieve/create a catalog entry. Ajax may also be added to web search.
Google Ajax Search API and Yahoo Search Web Services add Ajax to
web search. Google Ajax Search API provides a search control and
various searchers to specialize the web search. For example, using the
Google Local Search service the web search may be localized to a
specified region. The Google Blog search service is used to search only
blogs. Yahoo Search Web Services provides Web Services that may be
included in web applications to generate dynamic content for an input. In
this chapter we shall add Ajax to web search using the Google Ajax search
API and the Yahoo Search Web Services in JDeveloper 11g.
