The number of terminals having two displays is really applicable to those terminals with the clamshell
form factor. We have presented the results based on the overall terminal population and decided not
to present these results conditioned on the clamshell form factor. Also the number of colors used in
the display has dramatically increased which helps in displaying pictures, videos, etc., and generally
contributes to the viewing pleasure.
The number of phones that contain at least one camera has also increased as time progressed since
the introduction of UMTS phones. Moreover, the quality and resolution of the cameras has increased
to top a few megapixels (and growing). A last comment we wish to make in this section is that the size
of the memories within the UEs has dramatically increased since their introduction. This size can conceptually
be split into two regions, a public and private region. The private region is used for general
terminal operations such as physical layer and upper layer support. The public region is closely tied
to the features of the phone such as movie, picture, and audio storage. In addition to the storage
demands, applications running on operating systems such as Symbian,Windows ME, Linux, and so
on can benefit from the increase in memory capability.
