the results by the battery capacity. Display size and terminal weight are also key areas that deserve
attention. As the UE??™s data rate capability is increased, the display size is also increased in order to
provide a visual impact to the user??™s experience. The number of colors available in the display
increased from the early arrivals using 4096 colors to the latest terminals using approximately 262K
colors. Moreover, the number of displays has also doubled which is especially true for the famous
???clamshell??? form factor phones. Generally speaking, these features have improved year upon year
from circa 2002 to the present.
Figure 9.16 presents select statistics for features such as weight, percentage of terminals having
~262K colors, and percentage having two displays.
